Our Story
Windy City Builders was founded in 2019 by Alex Cartmell-Gollan and two of his former colleagues. They were looking for a new challenge; one that gave them more flexibility, more responsibility, and a company that reflected their values.
From day one, WCB was built on honesty, quality, and reliability. That meant straight-up advice, no hidden costs, and renovations done right. Over time, life took the founders in different directions, but Alex has continued to grow WCB, staying true to the original vision:

Meet Alex
With over 15 years of experience in building, Alex knows renovations inside and out. He’s quick to spot problems, even quicker to find solutions, and believes that good building starts with listening first.
He founded WCB to create a building company that’s honest, reliable, and practical. One that gives people real advice, clear communication, and quality work that lasts. His approach is simple: understand what the client needs, find smart solutions, and get the job done right.
When he’s not on-site or meeting with clients, you’ll probably find him playing any sport thrown his way despite his knees consistently objecting. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, young family, and a collection of animals that seems to keep growing.
